Not to Panic....yet

I will not panic is my new mantra starting tonight.
You see, in October; the first weekend in October to be exact, there will be a wedding.
I am making the shawl for the bride to wear.

How far along should I be? I had hoped to be done with the main part by now and working on the edging.

I am so not nearly done with the body of the shawl yet.

                   I will not panic.
I will be done with the shawl in time.
                          I will.
   I have to. :-P

I do love my little cozy corner with my cute, old chair and my Fantastic bookshelf. I love tea cups and teapots.

I love having my Tardis teapot right where I can see it every day. I do use it once in a blue moon too. ;-)
This shelf is also where my crochet and embroider books are too. It makes it so easy to get to them if I want to look up anything.

Are you rushing to finish a project in time?

I need to make lemonade...but life is so hard it won't even give me the lemons just now....

Ever had that kind of week?

Month?

Year?

It just seems like you can't catch a break?
Well, we haven't hit a truly hard rock bottom yet with our finances, but dang if we aren't close. đź‘€
I have been applying for all the receptionist/admin assist jobs I can find in my area, and I'm about to apply for the basic retail jobs because I need an income as of yesterday.
Not getting any calls for interviews, or getting a call back after the only two interviews I have had is starting to break apart my self esteem so badly.

Sigh.

I'm trying to make lemonade out of my lemons, but right this moment all I have to work with is the water.

Water....           Dreaming about water means that you are dreaming about emotions......
Speaking of water, hubby and I went out last Friday and explored a park that I hadn't been to yet.
We had been getting quite a lot of rain last week, so the water was just gushing down river.
Fast water...I love it!

Dudley Park in Athens is part of a Greenway project that I think show how well urban areas can keep green spaces that allow people to enjoy nature.
Pretty art and benches.

Water...flowing by, ever changing and yet looking the same.
Fast river water. Majestic.

Tall stately pillars...
Old historic railroad trusses.

The shawl's progress report...
The first stage of the pattern has gotten long enough, so I have started the main body of the pattern. Once I've gotten that done, then I'll do the final edging.
I have to say that working with Juniper Moon Farm's  Findley yarn is a dream! It's so soft and I am so in love with the color!

So, I'm off to pluck away at the shawl.

Crochet, tea, ramen, Grace, and Harmony

I love hot tea. I always have. I love coffee too, but tea is for pleasure and caffeine, where coffee just doesn't give the same jolt of pleasure that spicy, mellow, or traditional teas give. I most often make my tea in this:
It's old. It's my Mrs. Tea-pot. It makes a pretty great little pot of tea. It came with a little white ceramic teapot that I use once in a while.
Then there is my "spot". This is where you are most likely to find me sitting while having my tea and crocheting lately.
I love my growing collection of teacups and teapots. I love my little "grannie chairs". This is becoming my spot to try and refresh my sense of Harmony. It's where I plug in my phone and listen to Pandora and ponder what Living with Grace means to me and how I can keep spreading the ideals of living with grace and the ideals of Chivilary to others. If we could just learn to not hate. Learn to not hate those that are other, different from ourselves. Grace, Harmony, and Chilvilary.
I'm on the job hunt again. Have been for a month now. As such we are trying to squeeze blood out of our pennies. So it's been a ramen week for us. I've been playing with different ways to fix mine.
Tonight's was was to add a spoon of peanut butter, along with a spoon of butter. This was yummy. I'll add some heat by way of cayenne pepper next time too. Maybe shrimp, or chicken and peppers....
I've been working on my near mindless crochet today too as I try to not get caught up too much in the spewing of sides on the internet with the current affairs. I love this yarn.
Noro kureyon color #40. 100% wool, so I am planning on felting this when I'm done.
I am almost done since I am now working on the handles. I won't have enough yarn to add a pretty scalloped edging, but I think the colors will make it pretty enough with out the added details.
I'll also likely line the inside with a bright water paint frabric once it's felting. I'll know what size to make the lining then.
I'm just going to go back to my yarn now. Sitting in my spot, enjoying harmony. Hoping for the world more Grace and Harmony as well.

Right Now...

Right now my sewing basket is waiting on me to finish sorting, cleaning and packing so that I can finish altering my awesome bargain find dress.

The lovely red/cream stripes, the sing to me of warm summer breezes on the beach...

Right now I'm packing to join a gaggle of great girlfriends at the beach! I think my hubby can manage foe four days without me.
And yes, I am packing two crochet projects to take with me. ☺️

Beach!!!

What's your Right Now?

Spring Time Blossoms and Wedding Crochet for Fall

Ah, spring, my second favorite time of the year.  The wisteria is blooming, as well as the roses and honeysuckle. All some of my favorite spring scents mingled with the scent of freshly mown grass.
I do love roses. In Feb we trooped down to the house in Waycross and dug up my Peace rose as well as getting some other items from the house, and I planted my rose here at our home.
I love the colors of my Peace Rose.  I am also in love with the smell!

I love how the pink gives way to the bright yellow center, and how both colors are so vivid and cheerful!
The rose is so very fragrant, you can almost smell it through the the picture! LOL

The other plants I have planted at the base of the rose are doing so very well also! I am loving the beginnings of my little fairy garden. I have hopes of building some little fariy cottages and maybe even puttin in a little dry stream bed with pretty blue and green aquarium gravel and maybe some glass gravel as well.
Sweet Williams are so vibrant and bright in color! And really hardy as well.

Ant then there is this rose. It's our Brownlee Rose as it was brought to my husbands house after his grandmother Brownlee passed. It was one of her roses from her home. This rose has always bloomed before Mother's Day, and this year was no different!
This is so loaded, can you see all the buds? It is glorious to have such abundant blossoms!

I have been spending weeks and weeks going through Ravelry looking at shawl patterns. My husbands grand-niece is getting married the first weekend in October, and I'm making her a shawl to wear for the wedding. I am also hoping to make one for her daughter and each of the two bridesmaids, as well as scarfs for each of the groomsman and the groom. Yeah, I'm nuts! LOL
After so much searching and research I found the perfect yarn for hers, and because I am a paranoid woman, I picked up a plan "B" yarn!
I do so love the look of a project bag with yarn in it!

The perfect yarn is from Jumping Moon Farms. This light grey is just what she wanted, and as a linen-cotton blend will be soft and warm.  (But the voice in my head worries it may be too rustic??)
The pattern was also a wonderful find! The pattern is called Piquant by Lily Go on Ravelry.

And what progress have I been making! This section of the pattern is quick. Yet....
I'm still worried about the color and that it may be too rustic. So, off to the Mother-in-law's house where the dress is currently at for comparison. The result? Yep. Way too rustic and much, much too dark of a grey. I till love it and the yarn, but it is so not right for the wedding dress.

Which brings me to my plan "B" yarn.
Again another Juniper Moon yarn. This time it's Findley. This picture is not getting the color right. The color is much more like the pale dusty champaign, that hints of pink or a pale, pale mauve.

Not as much progress on this as yet. The yarn is much finer, so it's going just a touch slower.
I've checked this yarn with the dress, and it'll be perfect. It'll look much more classic and refined, which is what I wanted to go with.
:-)

Whee....now, just to get it all done before my birthday, July 26th!

          Ha ha ha ha

Ed the Rose has quite the bite.

Back in Feb we went down to Waycross to get some stuff from my house and to dig up Ed.
The tulip magnolia was in bloom, as it normally is this time of the year in Waycross. I love this tree, and now I have to figure out where in my yard to plant one. :-)

The two blueberry trees were also in bloom. I'll miss not having blueberries in the summer.

So, we dug up Ed. Here is Ed, short for Edna the Peace Rose.

My son, Shaelan helping to dig the hole to put Ed into at home here Bishop.

Persephone has to see what all the excitement is all about.

I will say, this roses thorns are huge!! And they hurt if you're not carfefull when handling her!
Ed is in the ground and all watered. This is still back in Feb and I was so very nevous that the last of our winter would be too much for Ed. Driving north for 4 1/2 hours means there is quite a temp difference between the two cities.

Yep, crystal mushrooms. It's the biginnig of an idea for a Fairy garden.

So, this is one if the things I did in Feb.
Wheeeee.

The joys of oral surgery...in the cold rain.

It's Friday, and raining, and cold. And I get the to have the joy of having three teeth surgically removed today. Yay. Please notice the use of the sarcasm font. LOL
It is raining, but the birds are still loving their bread in the feeder right now. Not that they will stay at it long enough for me to get a picture of one.
But there is still a beauty to be found in the winter landscape and the shades of greys, greens, and browns. Lovely earthy colors.

My cat, Persephone is also loving the cat-TV that the feeders are providing her.
This spot on the back of the sofa is one of her favorites. Can't say as I blame her, it's one of my favorite seats in the room as well.

Well, time for me to take my pre-op drugs grab my worry doll, Ludo, and get moving to the surgeon's office. Ugh.
Even Ludo looks as nervous as I feel. Dental work always causes such high anxiety for me. Ahmwell, it is what it is. I see a weekend of rest and crochet in my plans, with warm soups, warm drinks, and warm fires in the hearth.
   See y'all later.

Winter wandering and survival....

It has been cold! So very cold the past couple of weeks. Mostly, I like cold weather, esp if I can be inside with hot coffee or tea and a blazing fire in our fire place. But it has been cold enough for long enough that it is time to have the white stuff too. I mean really, if I'm going to freeze my petunias off, there had darn well better be some snow on the ground to make it worth it!!
Since I was hit with a bad case of the flu during Christmas week and didn't do as much of my crochet I had planed on, I have found it hard to pick up the crochet mojo again. Does anyone else have this problem?
I do have one project that I really do need to finish, and fast. The next to last of a group of very late Christmas gifts.
A scarf of wool, and silk. The grey silk yarn, I can not remember the name of the yarn, or if there is any other fiber content. The colors though, I love them together!
It is grey, trust me. ;-)

The pattern is from Ravelry, and is really simple. I am loving it, as its a really quick and almost brainless one that allows for chatting!
And, the yarns really are stunning together! Now I just need to keep working on it.
Ha! Yeah, just keep hooking, just keep hooking.....maybe that's not such a great chant after all. LOL

Last weekend, Friday night to be exact, my hubby and I grabbed the two boys and dashed to the Mall of Ga. The goal? Dinner at the Mongolian Grill, and a trip to Lush for Caca Rouge! Then early Sat morning, hubby and I ran out to go to a little specialty grocery store located in Five Points in Athens.  Since I was starving and on the verge of being "hangry" we looked for food and discovered a neat little breakfast/lunch diner. . J. Christopher's is good, Good food.
And, their decor is really kinda awesome!! I really, really, really wanted the painting on that wall to make its way into my house! The Hubby thinks the turtle is creepy, I thinks he is adorable!
What do y'all think?

After breakfast and a quick hop into Earth Fare to grab some rose water, we dashed home so that hubby and middle child could go shot arrows, throw spears and otherwise have fun with sharp pointy objects at a friends house. Meanwhile, I took advantage of the day and I doused my head in caca rouge!
Yep, all wrapped up to keep warm and I let it sit like this for five and a half hours!

What it looked like just before jumping in the shower to wash it all out.
This is why it's called caca rouge.....what looks like baby poop goes on.......
And red is what is revealed!
This picture brought to you by the Huddle House on Sunday as we were headed into Braselton to find cool junk/antique stores.  Hubby and I love to go junking, and looking for treasures. It's so much fun, and as you can tell by the scarf, it's still bloody well cold!

So cold in fact this is what the top of my car looked like just yesterday morning!!
Just look at that patterning! The swirls, and swooshes!
      So simply beautiful and crisp.
I believe this is what's called Hoar Frost. As you can just see in the above picture, it is spiky.

      Very spiky in fact.
Little tiny skinny trees of frost making up an almost micro forest of icy winter wonderland.
And this is how one survives winter in my house. Pamper ones hair with earthy color products, eat lots of yummy breakfasts, bundle up in lots of scarves, lots of junking and window shopping, and loving the art that nature provides.

Oh, must not forget the family that it's all shared with.
Yep. Survival.
  LOL
     My guys are hams!
