W.I.P. Wednesday!

Well, it's Wednesday and that means I get to show off my works in progress! Yay!  As I've mentioned I have the shawl that I started so that I can have a project to work on while at church. Well, the pattern is so simple and fantastic that I needed to make it more of a challenge, at least that's how I'm going to spin it!  LOL

So, here is the second shawl that I'm making.

Yep, lace weight yarn, or rather thread! It's so lovely!! I love, love, love this color way!

I have no memory what this yarn is. My Diva gals gave it to me earlier this year. But I do know that I love it and will so enjoy the feel of this shawl when it's done. I'm going to use all of this ball and then I'll add more yarn to the shawl to keep going for a decent size.

More scrummy yarn from my stash. I'll use these two yarns together for the rest of the shawl, and if I can, I'll get more if the verigated yarn to do the lace edging with. These two colors are a near perfect match with the other yarn!
I'm so going to Love, LoVe, LOVE this shawl whee it's done!!

I've of course been working on my blanket too! Can't leave it all alone, as I can't wait till it's fall and cool and I can use it, and take it camping with me at events. Scrummy, scrummy yarn!

See, scrummy yarn!  This is all I have left of the yarn. I'll have to order more since I really want to make this a blanket that can cover my king sized bed. Huge! I want it to be Huge!
LOL

So, what are your W.I.P.?

Helping M.A.R.S. and watching Pardus entertain college kids.

Last night, my husband and I went to one of our local fighter practices.  Our local SCA group has guys that attend the M.A.R.S (Medieval And Renaissance Society) which is the college branch for our group, the Barony of Bryn Madoc.

We went in garb, and and many of the fighters were wearing theirs too.
The group consists of Rapier fighters.

As well as what we call Heavy fighters. This is my husband, Pardus.

Here is my hubby again, with one of the MARS guys, and another local Barony member.

I took along the crochet project that I had started for working on while in church. Yeah, I'm finding that I don't want to put this one down. So, I started another one, but this time in a lace weight yarn. It's proving to be much trickier to work with. But the color! I'll post about that as I get further along with it. :-)
While at the practice last night one of the MARS guys mentioned that he wasn't going to have time to make a banner for the colleges activities fair this coming Wednesday, so be me, and having a bad case of helium hand, I offered to make one.

Pretty red flannel cotton material laying about in my fabric stash, with some trim that adds a bit of a wow factor, I'm hoping.

And the finished banner! It looks pretty rubbish up close, but back off by about five feet or more, and it looks right nice; if I do say so myself.
Well, I'm off to finish cooking dinner for tonight, then the hubby and I are off to our local sca meeting, and I'll pass off the banner to Ray.

A Diva-tastic Weekend

    I've had a fantastic, no, a "Diva-tastic" weekend.
I have a specific small, very, very small group of ladies that I know who get together and sew, or stich, or play with yarn. We got together this Sat for a bit of sewing, food, and most importantly, to watch the newest episode of Dr. Who!

Muirenn, Dee, and Leonora working on projects.

    Zofia working on her sewing.

And, Momo, the teen scowling at me for taking her picture. LOL

Me, Muirenn, and Momo while watching Dr. Who.
(That's not a tattoo, Momo like to write on her mom; must be a teen thing.)

Got home pretty late Saturday night, but was still able to get up in time to get ready for church in the morning. Picked up my younger son, Shae on the way.

I love these water lilys in front of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Athens. The pink to yellow blooms coming up out of the water along with the lily pads floating around them are just beautiful.
    Simply beautiful.

Last week I discovered the pleasure of crocheting while listening in church, however I also figured out that I need a project that requires very little thought so that I can still actually listen. So once I got back home this afternoon, I headed onto Ravelry. I love this website. Patterns, patterns, patterns galore! I found the perfect pattern by Doris Chan. It's her All Shawl and is offered as a free Ravelry download.

The yarn is by Noro and is Cash Iroha in what I believe to be called wisteria. It's a wool, silk blend and is quite soft and is proving to be a delight to crochet with. I'm using a K (6.5mm) hook and getting a light fluffy, lofty feeling fabric with this gauge.
Yeah, I know, *another* WIP started! but as this is for working on while in church! and my scrummy, scrummy pink afghan is getting too big to work on in public easily, this shawl makes perfect sense.

What new projects have you started this weekend?

A Ginger Dragon Morning

A morning person I am not. At least I don't like getting up before the sun. Once I'm up though, I tend to be perky. At least after coffee.this morning my oldest son had an interview with a local grocery store, and as he hadn't a car yet I offered to take him. So here I am trying to kill time waiting for him to be done with his interview.
As such, I'm enjoying my morning sitting outside a local coffee shop in Athens, drinking a Ginger Dragon. It's a lemon ginger infusion served hot, or like today, on ice.

The view is not too bad. The small courtyard is pleasantly shaded, and as it's early yet, the heat isn't too bad.

I am of course working on my pink everlasting blanket. I may even finish this guy before winter this year. :-)

I'm just going to keep hooking and enjoying my morning dragon while waiting for my son to be done, and hopefully hired.

WIP Wednesday!

I have been staying busy.
And still suffering from "Start-ites". I started and finished two projects today!
Small, instant gratification projects are just what we need once in a while to keep our creative juices flowing, don't ya think?

First up is my Lavender Purse to hang in my car.
This yarn was purchased at an event, and I can not for the life of me remember what the yarn is other than a mix of wool, silk, and maybe cotton...?

First step is deciding on just how big I want the base of the purse to be.

Here is the purse all done and stuffed with both clove and lavender.
But, it seems to be lacking...pizazz, yes?

And Ta-Da!!
Then Lavender. Purse with a handle and pearl!
I like it. It looks very lovely in its home hanging from my rear view mirror in my car.

My other project, well, a coffee cup cozy!
This was a super quick and fast one to make up.

I'm very pleased with the colors and the way the striping patterned out. I of course has to make a flower for it.
While these were quick makes started and finished today, I still have my lovely, awesome blanket that I've been working on forever it seems. LOL
Pink, lots of pink on that one. But, I love the color pink!

Snowball is still helping make sure I keep plucking along on the blanket.

So, what one ever lasting project are you working on?

Time...time...it moves so fast!

Oh, holy crap.
I've been busy.
Busy.
Busy.
Buzzzz.

Here is the blanket that I'm *still* working on. It feels like this one is never, ever, ever going to end. And since I already know I will need to order about 5 or more skeins of yarn...sheesh. But I love it!  I love, love, love this yarn!

Here is even more of my yarn. I've got Plans! Lots of plans for these yarns. Roses, hats, broaches, and head scarfs!
You see, I've opened an Etsy store! Yep.
I get people telling me *all* the time I should be selling my wares.
So. I am!!
I admit, it is terrifying!
What if my stuff never, ever sells?  I think that would be crushing to say the least. But, my store has only been open for two days now. Plenty of time yet to create, and add more, and maybe, just maybe sell something.
What?
Oh, what's in my store?
Well, hats, and other crocheted items, and purses sewn by me.
Here is the link for my store, if you'd like to see?

Of course, I've been doing this at the same time my kiddos are going back to school, and I've been putting in job application, after application. Now that Mom has passed and I'm not helping look after her it is time for a steady job again.
I will admit it, I would much rather stay home and play with my yarn and fabrics all day. This is what has finally pused me into putting up an Etsy store. The hope, no- the Dream that I can help support my family by doing what I love.
Well, here's to making the first step into that reality!
Off to crochet more broaches now.

Start-ites. Can this be a word?

I have an addiction.
I suffer from "start-ites".
See that spool? That supper wonderful giant spool of cotton? It is begging to become a crocheted rug.
The problem? I have two afghans, fives scarves, and two purses on hooks already. Not to mention the embroidery I have on the needle, and the garb I have planned to make.
And yet, the rug, it calls to me so, so loudly. Sigh.
I have a plan for the rug. I do. I just need about twenty or so skeins of wool in muted greens, tan, dark dusky blue, and deep cranberry reds.
But first I will finish this blanket.
I love this yarn. It's a wool, silk, cotton blend that smells like French soap.
Well, I'm off to go hooky some more.
